A few thoughts about learning the banjo
No one can learn to play the banjo overnight even if the person has a background in music. Learning any instrument is a joy as long as you make practice fun. You should never feel like your being made to learn because people get good at things they like and enjoy doing.
You can hit a plateau where you can't seem to move forward. We all go through this stage of our learning. Sometimes you just have to step back and reevaluate how your learning the banjo.
Finding a teacher can help you move forward and get past this stage, too. Just taking lessons two times each month can be very helpful.
Going to banjo workshops and meeting others that have had the same problems you're having will help give you confidence that you can overcome these plateaus as well.
But the main thing is to remember to have fun in what your doing.
Keep on Pickin'
